What is the difference between closed loop Hall Effect current sensor and open loop current sensors?

Open loop current transducer
Open loop current transducers measure ac and dc currents and provide electrical isolation between the circuit being measured and the output of the sensor (i.e the input current is measured without electrical contact with the primary circuit) providing galvanic isolation.

These sensors are characterized by low cost, higher current measurement range in a given size and low power consumption. Generally preferred in battery-powered circuits given their low-operating power requirements

Closed loop current transducers
Closed loop current transducer measure ac and dc currents and provide electrical isolation. It offers fast response, high linearity, and low temperature drift.

The current output of the closed loop current transducer is relatively immune to electrical noise.

The closed loop current transducer is are also known as ‘zero-flux’ transducer since the secondary mmf nulls the primary mmf, by generating current in the compensating winding. Since the primary mmf and secondary mmf is equal and opposite in direction flux in the core will be zero.

Closed loop current transducers are preferred when high accuracy and low temperature are essential.
